Police working with communities in Plymouth to battle scammers and fraud
Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) are helping local residents with fraud advice and other queries as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week.
The event takes place on Wednesday 25 June from 10am until 2pm at the Natwest bank branch on Old Town Street, Plymouth. It’s a good opportunity to meet local officers face to face and pick up some crime prevention tips; PCSOs Katie Mole, Mike Brumpton and Kyle Stimpson will be going along.
The three officers are part of the local Neighbourhood Police Team based at Charles Cross Police Station in the city. Sergeant Steve Dykes, one of the local Neighbourhood Team Leaders, manages the trio and several constables in his team. The officers engage with the local community at various events and aim to be visible and available to the public as they carry out their foot patrols.
PCSO Katie Mole explained: “We will be speaking with members of the public about fraud and cybercrime safety. We will have resources for visitors to take home and they can share them with friends or family.
“If you have concerns about fraud, please come by and have a chat with us. You do not need to be a NatWest customer to attend this important event and it may help you protect yourself.”
If you want to speak to someone about fraud before or after the event please contact the Action Fraud Helpline.
If you have been a victim of fraud, please report it here - Action Fraud or call their helpline 0300 123 2040 Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm. If you are deaf or hard of hearing you can contact them on textphone 0300 123 2050.
