APPEAL | Criminal damage, Barnstaple

0488.25 Criminal damage to floral display.jpg

We are appealing for witnesses and information following damage to a floral display in North Devon.

The damage took place at The Barnstaple in Bloom display over the weekend of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July.

The display of valuable and carefully maintained plants, situated next to Tea by the Taw tea rooms on The Strand, had been planted and tended to by the dedicated team of Barnstaple in Bloom volunteers.

The damage occurred just days before the town's judging for the competition, leaving many of those involved in its care and maintenance deeply disappointed.

PC Sara Withecombe said: “These displays are created through the hard work and commitment of local volunteers who give up their time to make Barnstaple a brighter more welcoming place for everyone.

“This damage has understandably left them upset and frustrated and we are keen to identify those responsible”.
