UPDATE | Murder investigation, Helston

A police investigation remains ongoing after the body of a man was discovered in a car in Helston earlier this week.

Officers were carrying out enquiries in the area of Helston Business Park, in the early hours of Wednesday 18 December following a report of concern for welfare, when they made the discovery.

A man in his 60s, from the South Somerset area, was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Two women, aged in their 50s and 80s and from South Somerset, were arrested on suspicion of murder, concealing a death and preventing a lawful burial. They have now been released on police bail while further enquiries are carried out.

Detective Inspector Neil Blanchard from the Major Crime Investigation Team said: “Detectives are continuing to investigate the death of a man, whose body was located in a car in Helston on Wednesday.

“Two women were arrested in connection to the death and have since been released on police bail while the investigation continues.

“We do believe that all involved parties were known to each other and at this time we are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death.”
