Free bike marking offered to cyclists in Torquay
Police in Torquay are offering free bike security marking this week so why not go along and protect your property.
Police are inviting the public to pop to Fish Bikes at 104b Teignmouth Rd, Torquay on Friday 30 January from 2pm to meet local officers and get some advice.
Police Community Support Officer James Kelly has organised the event and is hoping for a good turnout.
He said: “We are holding the free bike marking opportunity on Friday 30 January at Fish Bikes between 2pm and 4pm. It’s a chance to get bicycles registered and on the national database. We will also hand out bike marking stickers which go on the cycle’s frame so please come along and have a chat with us.
“Hopefully better weather will return soon and that leads to an increase in cyclists getting out and about and we want to make sure their bikes are protected in case they are stolen. We would like to thank the staff at Fish Bikes for supporting and hosting this event.
“If you are a fan of two wheels or perhaps you received a new bike as a Christmas present then this event is for you.”
Police recommend using good quality locks to double lock your bike if left unattended and make sure you register the frame number. Please take removeable parts with you such as lights, basket and saddle to prevent theft.
