Six men charged following raids in Swindon
Detectives from the Serious & Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) have charged six men this afternoon following a search of several properties across Swindon.
On Wednesday 4 February, warrants were carried out across Swindon as part of a SOCU investigation into burglary.
Officers from both the Devon & Cornwall and Wiltshire Police Serious & Organised Crime Units Serious & Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) have taken part in the operation, with support from the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU).
The operation led to the arrest and charging of the following individuals:
Frankie O’Dwyer, 25, Ermin Street, Swindon
- False imprisonment
- Conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling with intent to steal
- Possess with intent to supply Class B Cannabis
- Participate in the criminal activities of an organised crime group
Alton O’Connell, 27, Highdown Way, Swindon
- Kidnap
- Conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling with intent to steal
- Participate in the criminal activities of an organised crime group
- Handling stolen goods
- False imprisonment
Luke McInerny, 31, Bath Road, Swindon
- Kidnap
- Conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling with intent to steal
- Participate in the criminal activities of an organised crime group
- Handling stolen goods
- False imprisonment
- Possession of counterfeit currency
Karl Houghton, 36, Elgin Drive, Swindon
- Conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling with intent to steal
- Participate in the criminal activities of an organised crime group
Dwain Stratford, 35, Beech Avenue, Swindon
- Conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling with intent to steal
- Participate in the criminal activities of an organised crime group
Nicholas O’Dwyer, 56, Groundswell Road, Swindon
- Conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling with intent to steal
- Participate in the criminal activities of an organised crime group
- Possession of counterfeit currency
They have all been remanded and are due to appear at Exeter Magistrates’ Court this morning (Friday 6 February).
A 45-year-old man from Swindon has been bailed pending further enquiries.
