Appeal following series of burglaries across Plymouth
We are appealing for information following a series of burglaries in Plymouth which officers believe may be linked.
The incidents being investigated occurred on 24 September, with detectives also exploring potential links to four burglaries reported in Barne Barton on 23 September, and a further two burglaries reported in Plymstock and Glenholt on 5 October.
Officers have received reports of men trying vehicle door handles in the Glenholt area over recent days and there are concerns that parts of the city may have been specifically targeted.
The burglaries have typically involved offenders entering properties through insecure doors or windows before searching for and stealing vehicle keys from within the address.
Extensive house-to-house enquiries have been carried out in the affected areas and local neighbourhood policing teams are conducting additional patrols and reassurance activity.
T/Detective Constable Rapson said: "We are continuing to investigate a number of burglaries across Plymouth and are keeping an open mind as to whether these incidents are linked.
"Our enquiries have identified a common pattern whereby offenders are targeting insecure properties, entering homes and stealing vehicle keys before making off with vehicles or other property.
"We would urge residents to ensure all doors and windows are locked and secured, particularly overnight, and to store vehicle keys away from doors, windows and letterboxes where possible.
"We are also keen to hear from anyone who has seen suspicious activity in their neighbourhood, particularly during the early hours of the morning.”
Anyone with information, CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam recordings which may assist enquiries is asked to contact police via our website or by calling 101, quoting crime reference 50260256054.
Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
