Serious injury collision, Barnstaple

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road traffic collision on the A39 between Roundswell, Barnstaple and Bideford.

Police were notified at around 1.10pm on Tuesday 28 January of a collision between a Mitsubishi L200, a Ford Mondeo and a Fiat Ducato ambulance owned by South West Ambulance Trust.

As a result of this collision, an 88-year-old local man sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Derriford. His next of kin have been informed.

The drivers of the two other vehicles sustained minor injuries.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the scene, and it was reopened soon after 9pm.
