Firearm incident, Plymouth

A man has been arrested following a firearm incident in Plymouth.

Officers were called to North Hill at around 5.45am on Tuesday 17 December following reports of a man being shot to the chest by an air rifle.

Armed response units attended the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries not considered life-changing or life-threatening. He has since been discharged.

Local road closures were put in place but later lifted.

There is no wider threat to the public following this incident.

A 45-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He has been released on police bail.

Anybody who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant CCTV or dash-cam footage is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting log 101 of 17 December.
