Appeal following attempted burglaries at businesses in Plymouth

Business owners are being asked to check their CCTV following attempted burglaries earlier this week in and around Plymouth.

On Tuesday 19 May a male suspect entered two separate businesses in Plymouth via staff entrances and gained access to restricted areas.

In both incidents, he entered office areas and attempted to gain access to safes located within the premises before leaving empty handed.

The offences only came to light after employees encountered the suspect in staff-only areas and subsequently reviewed their CCTV systems.

Priority Crime investigation Team (PCIT) detectives are appealing directly to retailers and licensed premises across Plymouth, Yelverton, and Tavistock and the South Hams to review any available CCTV footage to see if they too have been targeted.

It is possible businesses may not be aware they have been targeted. Investigators are confident that additional premises may have also been attended by the suspect on the same day.

Business owners are asked to view CCTV footage from between 2.10pm and 11pm on Tuesday 19 May for any suspicious persons entering staff-only areas, offices, or attempting to access secure locations within the premises.

Officers are visiting as many premises as possible but fear that vital CCTV may be lost if all potential victims are not identified as soon as possible.

The suspect is described as a white male, of slim build, wearing black clothing and cap. He is of average height and has a beard.

Anybody with information or who believes their business too may have been targeted is asked to call 101 or visit our website quoting 50260128588
