Fatal road traffic collision, Paignton

Police are appealing for witness and information following a fatal road traffic collision in Paignton.

Officers were called at around 7pm on Wednesday 5 February to Southfield Avenue after it was reported that a collision had taken place involving a pedal cycle and a van.

Sadly, the cyclist, a local man in his 60s, passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

A local man in his 70s has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at a collision. He remains in police custody at this time.

The road was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene. 

Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed.
