Come along to the first Torquay pop up cop shop of the new year
Residents of Torquay are invited to a community drop-in surgery to meet local police officers and ask any questions they may have, as well as picking up some crime prevention freebies.
The local neighbourhood police team will be at the old O2 mobile phone shop at 77 Union Street on Wednesday 21 January between 11am and 2pm and this event is especially for anyone who may have questions or concerns around anti-social behaviour.
Torquay Inspector Rob Harvey explained: “The Torquay Neighbourhood Police Team are always looking at different ways to be more visible and accessible to the communities of Torquay.
“We look forward to seeing people at our first pop up community surgery for Torquay town centre in 2026. This event has a particular focus on anti-social behaviour (ASB) and we are very pleased to confirm we will be joined by Devon & Cornwall Police ASB legal expert Machaela O’Brien, as well as key members of Torbay Council.
“Both the ASB delivery manager and lead for the Community Safety Partnership will be with us between 11am and 2pm on Wed 21 Jan. We would like to thank our partners at Torbay Council for supporting us in making this possible.
“This is a great opportunity to speak to the right people about any ASB concerns or issues you may have. We will also be able to security mark bicycles and have other crime prevention freebies to give away to visitors.”
Torquay Town Centre Manager Darryn Brown, who oversees the town centre officers, will also be supporting the upcoming event.
Torquay is one of Devon & Cornwall Police’s designated Hotspot policing areas which has received Home Office funding and enjoyed extra high visibility foot patrols to tackle ASB and increase public engagement and confidence.
