Former Devon & Cornwall Police PC sentenced for thefts
A former Devon & Cornwall Police officer has been sentenced after pleading guilty to three thefts and misconduct in public office.
Chloe Henderson, 29, a former Police Constable based in Plymouth, was sentenced at Taunton Crown Court on Thursday 5 November after previously pleading guilty to the four charges.
Five further thefts were ordered to lie on file.
She was sentenced to a nine month prison sentence, suspended for two years. She must also complete 200 hours of unpaid work and pay costs as well as compensation to one of her victims.
Henderson resigned from the Force following her guilty pleas.
Henderson resigned from the Force following her guilty pleas. An accelerated misconduct hearing on 26 October determined that Henderson would have been dismissed if still serving.
By entering guilty pleas, Henderson admitted that on three separate occasions she stole perfume, GHD hair straighteners and King’s Coronation medals - all at Charles Cross Police Station.
The misconduct in public office charge related to Henderson taking possession of a handbag when on duty, not recording it as lost property and stealing items from within it, namely cash and a mobile power-bank.
All the offences took place between 2022 and 2025 while Henderson was on duty.
Following sentencing, Detective Chief Inspector Ilona Rosson of the Devon & Cornwall Police Professional Standards Department, said: “We are very disappointed by the actions of Chloe Henderson, who admitted stealing from hard-working colleagues based at the station at which she worked from at the time.
“Needless to say, her colleagues’ belongings should have been safe while they went about their employment.
“Henderson’s offending took place over a prolonged period of time and as such cannot be described as a one-off.
“As a force we are committed to maintaining the highest levels of trust and confidence within the community and will hold ourselves accountable when appropriate.
“The actions of one former officer do not represent the behaviour and values of the vast majority of our officers who behave to the highest standards day in, day out, both in and out of work.”
