Update: Further appeal for witnesses after body found in Barnstaple in December

Police investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Barnstaple in December have issued a further appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to reports that the body of a man had been found in the Howard Avenue area of Barnstaple, at around 7.20am, on Thursday 8 December.

A local man in his late teens was declared deceased at the scene and his next of kin were informed.

Detective Inspector Gary Matthews said: “We are still calling on anyone who may have information to come forward.

“We do not consider this death to be suspicious and we are not looking for anyone in connection with it, but it remains unexplained at this time.

“Police are working with HM Coroner to seek to establish the facts around this man’s death.

“Enquiries are ongoing, and the family are being kept informed about the investigation.”
