Spate of burglaries, Woolacombe
Police are asking residents to ensure their properties are secure and to check their doorbell and CCTV footage after a spate of break-ins around the Woolacombe area.
Officers believe two break-ins in Woolacombe and two in Mortehoe, which all took place overnight between Sunday 24 March and Monday 25 March, are linked.
Between 12.30am and 3am an occupant of a property in Mortehoe heard a loud bang downstairs. Upon inspection the man noticed damage to a rear side door. His wallet was missing and his coat pockets had been rummaged. A key to the front door of the house was also taken.
There was also evidence of a break-in at a disused Coastguard station in Mortehoe.
Also overnight a bicycle was taken from a property at Woolacombe Rise in Woolacombe. The bike was located nearby. The property’s garage and porch doors were open and there had been an unsuccessful attempt to enter the house.
At approximately 3.40am the occupants of a property at Chichester Park, Woolacombe were awoken by a noise outside that sounded like someone walking on the decking.
They have since discovered that the door to their side conservatory was opened and alcohol taken. A bike shed was also opened.
