Police and Volunteers Meet Hundreds of Visitors at Mid Devon Show

Devon & Cornwall Police officers spoke to hundreds of people at the Mid Devon Show this weekend at Knightshayes in Tiverton.

The busy family event took place on Sat 22 July and there was plenty going on to keep everyone entertained including music, livestock shows and farming demos, food stalls and vintage vehicle displays.

Local Mid Devon Inspector Grant Leitch went along to meet visitors and was joined by his team including Sergeant Simon Andrews, several Police Constables and Police Community Support Officers. Also present at the show were volunteers including Special Constables, Police Cadets and one of the force Chaplains.

Insp Leitch said: “Despite the rain this event was a fantastic day out for local people and we are pleased that we had the opportunity to engage with so many visitors on the day. My team try to get out and about to as many of these type of events over the busy summer period as they can to make sure that we talk to the public and see if they have any comments or concerns which we can help them with.

“I would also like to remind local people that Tiverton police station public enquiry desk at Lowman Green is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm if they would like to come and say hello and raise any issues with our helpful staff.”

Two Student Constables organised a ‘have your say’ survey on the day with the Cadets and will be compiling the feedback results to give a better insight into what the public want and how they feel about policing in their area.

Devon is one of the safest counties in England and Wales to live, work and visit according to ONS crime data released earlier this year.
