Police in Barnstaple Want Your Views

Police in Barnstaple are gearing up for another operation to tackle local issues and want to hear your views.

This Spring the Neighbourhood Team intend to focus on crime trends and concerns through reporting of offences and logging of anti-social behaviour (ASB) incidents and are inviting community intelligence from members of the public.

The police intensification period will begin in mid March in the busy town and this will consist of high visibility patrols and enhanced engagement with the public. The operation will run for several weeks.

Inspector Andy Wills, who heads up the Barnstaple Sector, said: “The operation is timed to coincide with what is typically the arrival of warmer weather and sometimes we see that anti-social behaviour can increase in public places. The Easter holidays are a busy time for Devon & Cornwall Police and we traditionally see an increase in visitor numbers to our towns and villages.

“We have already been speaking to local residents at community engagement events using survey cards but would like to reach out further to promote our questionnaire. We want to identify what issues are troubling our communities the most and work with them to reassure them.”

“This important feedback – which only takes a couple of minutes to complete - will help inform and shape the way we police our communities and where we concentrate our efforts to keep people safe.”
