Serious road traffic collision, St Austell

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road traffic collision on the A391 in St Austell.

The collision took place at 4.20am on Saturday 1 March near the Boscoppa Road over bridge and involved a red Hyundai Getz motor vehicle and a pedestrian.

A 26-year-old male pedestrian was taken to Treliske Hospital with injuries which are being treated as life-threatening at this time.

A 24-year-old from the Par area was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified, drink driving, driving whilst unfit through drugs and failure to report an accident. He has been released under investigation.

The road was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene. Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed. 

Officers are appealing for any witnesses that have not already spoken to them, but who may have seen the collision, or have dash camera footage, to contact police via our website, or by calling 101, quoting log 117 of 1 March.
