Witnesses sought after man seriously injured, Exwick

Detectives are seeking witnesses after a man was found seriously injured in Exwick yesterday, 12 June.

Officers were called by ambulance at 5.50pm after the man was located with life-threatening injuries near the River Exe off Station Road.

A man is his 20s had sustained a number of puncture wounds and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

He was later transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where he remains in a critical condition.

A man in his 20s from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives are carrying out enquiries and appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Dave Ireland said: “We are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on 12 June to please contact us.

“The public will see an increased police presence in the area and we would encourage anyone with information or concerns to speak with officers or to contact us by calling 101.”

Police searches and enquiries remain ongoing.
