We are trying to identify the owner of an unaccompanied set of clothing [pictured] located on the coast path in Penzance yesterday, Tuesday 10 June.

Officers were patrolling when they located the clothes shortly after 5pm at an area called White Wall, a footpath adjacent to Penzance bus and railway stations on Wharf Road.

Most of the items of clothing were dry, but the collection did include some wet items, and we are now trying to identify their owner.

Police Sergeant Daniel Roberts said: “The Coastguard was deployed both on the water and land area, but their search for any injured or submerged persons proved negative.

“It is entirely possible that the wearer of the clothes merely left the clothing at the location having changed into other clothing, leaving them behind.

“The clothing is quite distinctive, especially the footwear. The hooded sweatshirt is also sized 11/12 years of age.

“We would like to find the owner of the clothing to ensure that nobody has found themselves in difficulty when entering the water.”

Anybody who recognises the clothing is asked to call 101 or visit our website quoting log 575 of 10 June.
