Police use money seized from criminals to support craft club for young people, Helston
Devon & Cornwall Police are paying it forward to the community of Helston by giving money seized from convicted criminals to support local children’s craft club.
The neighbourhood police team recently awarded £500 of illegally earned cash to CAST (Cornubian Arts & Science Trust) to help them build an artwork display area showing off the models, paintings and pottery created by attendees.
The free weekly Saturday sessions bring together over 40 young people aged 11 to 16 from various backgrounds and has been running in the heart of the community for a number of years.
“Not only is the club a place that encourages young people to be creative, but it also supports them in growing their social skills and self-confidence,” said Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Julia Berry, who works closely across Helston.
“I’m pleased we were able to support this fantastic club and the work they do to form positive relationships with young people in Helston."

Police in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly continue to support groups, projects and charities in the local area with money from the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) fund, which contains funds seized from criminality.
