Falmouth man jailed for raping woman
A man from Falmouth has been jailed for 13 years after being found guilty of sexual offences against a woman.
Christian Dodd, aged 46, previously of Cliff Road, will also sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Dodd was arrested in August 2022 after police received a report of rape. He admitted in police interview that the woman had not consented and told officers ‘he had no excuse to do what he had done’.
Despite the comments, Dodd pleaded not guilty to the offences and stood trial at Truro Crown Court in May 2025.
The jury found him guilty of one count of rape of a woman and one count of assaulting of a female by penetration relating to offences in August 2022.
He was found not guilty of one count of sexual assault on female, relating to an incident in November 2021.
Appearing at Truro Crown Court today, 14 May, the judge sentenced him to seven years for the sexual assault and 13 years for the rape. The sentences will run concurrently.
Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Isabelle Woodall said: The investigation into this matter commenced in 2022. It has been a trying time, and it is a relief for all concerned that it has finally been brought to a conclusion.”
