Your opportunity to come and ‘chat with a cop’ in Teignmouth
As the summer continues the busy Teignmouth Neighbourhood Police Team has organised some more opportunities for local people to meet them face to face.
The officers will be in the town for ‘chat with a cop’ sessions in the next few months and would like local residents to come along and share any concerns they may have. The first session takes place on Saturday 23 August (the next Bank Holiday weekend) at The Den Promenade and is a chance to talk though any issues and ask questions, as well as picking up some crime prevention advice.
Teignmouth and other holiday hotspots in the South West are extra busy as we head towards the end of August.
Inspector Sean Roper leads the Teignmouth Neighbourhood Police Team. The team has been working hard over the summer to keep people safe. He explained: “The summer is always a busy time in Devon & Cornwall, especially coastal resorts such as here in Teignmouth. There are lots of extra visitors and people on holiday enjoying themselves. The roads get even busier as lots of people flock to this beautiful part of the world over the school break and we also have to manage extra demand and incidents on the water.
“The extra demand on emergency services means my neighbourhood teams, as well as Patrol officers and other units like Roads Policing have to be ready for a variety of calls from the public and they work extra hard to keep people away from harm. We want to connect with the visitors and of course the residents who live here all year round. They know they can come to us if they need us. “
Officers will be on either the Den promenade near Teignmouth Pier, or on the Triangle between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. Locations will be confirmed closer to the dates via the Teignmouth and Dawlish Police social media accounts.
The monthly events are free to attend and you don’t have to sign up in advance, just pop along and say hello. They are due to take place on Saturdays from 23 August and continue on 20 September, 18 October, 15 November and 13 December.”
Please note that officers may sometimes be deployed elsewhere at short notice due to operational demands.
Police are also urging local people to sign up to Devon & Cornwall Police Community Messaging and receive free relevant updates via text or email.
