A property that had been causing persistent antisocial behaviour (ASB) in the community of Liskeard has been closed after being served with a full closure order.

It will now be an offence for anyone to enter the property, located on Baytree Hill [Liskeard], for three months. The order was granted on 17 June 2025.

This action follows reports of ongoing ASB and crime that had been putting a strain on the local community, having a negative impact on resident’s wellbeing.

Police Constable Peter Holland, who supported with the investigation, said: “We received reports of loud music and parties taking place at all hours of the day, which led to alcohol-fuelled fights and violence. There were also concerns of drugs after people reported a smell of cannabis coming from the property.

“There were also a large number of people who would visit the address, including those with known links to shoplifting, criminal damage and violence.

“It was clear that this repeated and continuous behaviour was having a detrimental impact, causing local resident’s concern. No one should feel unsafe, intimidated or worried in the area they live, so it was important we took action to prevent further harm.”

Attempts had been made to work alongside the tenants to prevent the behaviour from occurring, however these attempts were unsuccessful. Obtaining the closure order was the next necessary step to safeguard local residents.

The tenants have been signposted to necessary support services while the closure order is in place.

PC Holland added: “Whilst we know this is only a temporary measure, I’d like to reassure the community that we will continue to engage with the tenants and residents to deter this behaviour from happening down the line.”

A vital part of gathering evidence to secure closure orders is reports from the public. If you’re experiencing similar problems or are experiencing any behaviour that causes you distress, please report it to the police.

“Thank you to everyone who came forward to report this to us. I hope this shows we are listening and taking action.”

This closure order was secured in collaboration with the neighbourhood police team, Devon & Cornwall Police Legal Services and Cornwall Council’s antisocial behaviour team.
