Unexplained death, Plymouth
Police investigating the death of an 18-year-old man in Plymouth this morning [25 January] are treating it as unexplained.
Officers were called by ambulance staff to a property on Keppel Street, at around 9.30am, to reports of concern for a man who was reported to have taken an unknown substance.
Sadly, he was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
A second man was taken to hospital as a precaution but has since been discharged.
Officers put a scene guard and cordon in place while emergency services attended the scene, but this has since been removed.
Two men aged 20 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. They remain in police custody at this time.
Detective Sergeant Ed Carr said: “Our enquiries remain in the very early stages and our thoughts are with the young mans family and friends.
“At this time the death is being treated as unexplained and we are investigating to understand the full circumstances.
“I would urge everyone to bear in mind the risks of taking any unknown substance – you do not know what dangers they pose and what reaction you could have. It isn’t worth the risk.”
