APPEAL | Serious road traffic collision, near Bideford

We are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following a road traffic collision near Bideford.

Officers were called at around 7.50pm on Sunday 25 May following a report of a single vehicle collision on the A386 outside Little Dene.

A black BMW had left the road to the nearside, collided with trees and then rejoined the main carriageway before the vehicle burst into flames. Both occupants had exited the vehicle at this point.

The two occupants of the vehicle were taken to North Devon District Hospital. Due to the severity of injuries suffered, one occupant was subsequently transferred to Derriford Hospital with a serious head injury.

Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team and Local Response officers attended the scene. Following a lengthy investigation at the scene, the road was re-opened.

Anybody who witnessed the collision or has information regarding it – in particular anyone with dashcam footage - is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 or via our website quoting log number 784 of 25/05/2025.
