UPDATE | Serious injury collision, Torquay

Police investigating a serious road traffic collision in Torquay at the weekend have located a person who was being sought in relation to the incident.

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a red Vauxhall Astra and a building on Teignmouth Road, Torquay at around 9.55pm on Sunday 16 March.

Police, Southwestern Ambulance Trust, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue and Devon Air Ambulance all attended the scene.

A 45-year-old local man sustained life-changing injuries, and was taken to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, where he remains in a critical condition.

The road was closed whilst a forensic examination of the scene was carried out.

A 32-year-old man from Torquay was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released on police bail to return on Monday 16 June, pending further enquiries.

A second person, a woman, who was being sought in relation to this incident, has been located and has spoken with officers. She sustained minor injuries.
