Two men arrested following reports of serious offences in West Cornwall.

Police were called at around 4.30pm on 1 February to the Truro area following reports that a man had been held against his will and had his car stolen by a male suspect. It was further reported that the suspect may be in possession of a firearm.

A number of resources were deployed to carry out searches and enquiries and they located the car, unattended, in the Redruth area later that evening. It was recovered and searched by officers who located a TASER inside.

Shortly after 3am on Thursday 2 February, police received a further report about a serious assault on a man in the Helston area. The victim sustained a broken leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

During the late afternoon of 2 February, officers attended two addresses in Redruth and Camborne where two suspects were located and arrested.

A 32-year-old man from Truro was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 29-year-old man from Ivybridge was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Inspector Glenn Willcocks said: “Two men have been arrested in connection to these incidents and they remain in police custody today.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing in respect of this investigation and the public may see increased police presence in these areas whilst that continues.”
