Witnesses sought to robbery, Bideford

An investigation has been launched following a robbery at a chemist in Bideford yesterday, Thursday 14 May.

Three men entered Boots Pharmacy in Bay View Road, Northam, and made threats towards staff before escaping with a quantity of cash from the till.

No-one was injured but the staff members were left very shaken by the incident which happened between 6.20pm and 7.10pm.

Searches are ongoing to locate the suspects who were described as black and all wearing high-vis jackets over dark clothing. They were all wearing face coverings.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward. The robbery could also be linked to two earlier incidents at the same premises.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Jordan said: “Our enquiries into this incident and efforts to locate the suspects continue.

“There is not thought to be any wider threat to the community and the suspects were not seen in possession of any weapons.

“While there were no injuries reported, this was an extremely distressing incident for the staff to be faced with.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are urging any witnesses to come forward. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with information about suspicious individuals or vehicles around the area at the time of the offence.”

Detectives are further appealing for information about two other reported incidents at the pharmacy over the last few weeks.

Three men matching the description of the robbery suspects were seen near to the pharmacy entrance around 6.30pm on 7 May.

An attempted burglary also happened at the premises on 18 April where offenders tried to get in through the roof. Nothing was stolen.

Det Sgt Jordan added: “We are asking for anyone with information related to all three of these incidents to get in touch with us. I would particularly urge residents in the area to check their CCTV, doorbell cameras or dashcams for anything suspicious in the area for the dates and times specified.”
