UPDATE | Murder investigation after death of woman in Exeter

Detectives are continuing to investigate after a woman was found deceased at a property in Exeter at the weekend.

Officers were called to a report of a concern for welfare for a woman at an address on Millbrook Lane, Exeter, at around 12.40pm on Sunday 19 April.

Officers and paramedics attended, and an 87-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Inspector Guy Biggar, who is leading the investigation, said: “Officers are continuing with their enquiries to establish what happened in this sad case.

“A police guard that was set up at the scene has since been stood down.

“It is believed that the man and the woman were known to each other. 

“We are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death and members of the public will still see a heightened police presence in the area, as our enquiries continue.”

A 92-year-old man from Exeter has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
