Serious collision, St Ives

Police were called at around 7.45pm last night [30 April] to reports of a collision on Trelyon Avenue, St Ives.

The incident involved a grey BMW 1 series and two pedestrians.

Both pedestrians, a man and woman, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. One is described as life-threatening.

The driver of the car, a 45-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention. He has been released on bail while enquiries are ongoing.

Trelyon Avenue was closed for approximately eight hours to allow forensic collision investigators to examine the scene and for recovery of the vehicle.  Thank you for your patience whilst this was done.
