Police take £15,000 worth of drugs off the streets in North Devon

Officers arrested three people after uncovering a large quantity of cash, cannabis and suspected counterfeit cigarettes at a property in Braunton as part of a recent warrant.

The warrant was carried out at a property in Braunton on the morning of Tuesday 31 March and resulted in the seizure of 1.5 kilograms of cannabis with an estimated street value of £15,000.

Officers also seized £15,000 cash and a large quantity of cigarettes, believed to be counterfeit products.

Three people were arrested following the warrant and have since been released on bail, pending further investigations.

Detective Sergeant Sam Jones is leading the investigation. He said: “Preventing a significant quantity of drugs from reaching streets in North Devon has been a really positive result.  

“Counterfeit tobacco products also put public health at risk, as well as undermining legitimate businesses, and are often linked to wider criminal activity, so I’m really pleased we’ve removed this risk to the public.

Officers from the Barnstaple Neighbourhood Policing Team were supported by the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit.

DS Jones added “I hope the results of this warrant send a clear message that we are serious about tackling drug crime in our communities.
