Appeal after woman’s body found in Cornwall

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman’s body was located in Cornwall.

Officers were called at 2.55pm on Saturday 8 February following reports of a body being located at the bottom of cliffs in Porthtowan.

The ambulance service and Coastguard were both also called.

The body was recovered to the beach by lifeboat.

The body is believed to be that of a woman in her 20s from the Truro area. Formal identification has yet to take place.

The death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.

A file will be prepared for the coroner.

Anybody who witnessed a female at the cliffs in Porthtowan between the afternoon of Friday 7 February and the afternoon of Saturday 8 February is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting 50250033859.

The female in question was described as being a white female, appearing to be in her late teens/early 20s, of slim build, with dark hair and wearing black shoes, black trousers, a black top and a lightweight black coat. She was carrying a red handbag.
