Footage sought after police pursuit into Exeter

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fail to stop and police pursuit into Exeter last night, 28 November.

The incident began when patrol officers spotted a suspicious vehicle on Exmouth Road in Lympstone around 6.50pm.

The silver Vauxhall Astra Estate failed to stop for police resulting in a pursuit.

The car travelled at speed through Ebford to Sandygate roundabout before heading into Sowton Industrial Estate and then Pinhoe.

During the incident, the suspect vehicle was in collision with a male pedestrian on Chancel Lane at the junction with Venny Bridge, causing minor injuries to his foot.

A marked police car was also rammed and badly damaged. The officers were not injured.

The car eventually stopped on Stemson Avenue in Pinhoe around 7.05pm and the driver fled the scene. Officers carried out an area search and located a male nearby a short time later.

A 14-year-old boy from the Exeter area was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and without insurance. He has been released on bail until 19 February 2024.

Police are investigating the incident and asking for witnesses to contact them. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have captured the incident on their vehicle dashcam, doorbell camera or CCTV system.
