Great work has been achieved by the police teams in Wadebridge in tackling anti-social behaviour in the area.

Working alongside colleagues in the dedicated ‘Protect & Disrupt’ police team, the neighbourhood team carried out targeted patrols on the weekend of 27 January. The teams’ efforts resulted in a number of arrests with ongoing investigations.

The activity formed part of Operation Loki which was adopted by the team in September 2023. Since the start of the operation, the team have run mini operations to combat anti-social behaviour in the area. Operation Loki is a force-wide neighbourhood team initiative tackling crimes including anti-social behaviour, drugs, violent crime, and knife crime.

The dedicated ‘Protect & Disrupt’ team, who assisted the neighbourhood team, are regularly tasked to support neighbourhood teams to combat issues within local communities. The support includes the use of plain-clothed officers to proactively disrupt criminal activity from high-risk offenders within communities.

PC Avery, from the Protect & Disrupt team, said: “We deploy at events or within target areas to disrupt a range of criminal activities, for example, anti-social behaviour. In the last year alone, the team have seized significant quantities of illegal drugs, over £60,000 in cash, offensive weapons, and numerous vehicles, whilst helping to secure lengthy custodial sentences for offenders.”

Inspector Adam Stonehill said: “We are really pleased with the results following Wadebridge neighbourhood policing team’s proactive work in conjunction with the Protect & Disrupt team. We have been focusing our efforts in areas where our communities have been reporting anti-social behaviour taking place, and as a result of our patrols, we have made arrests and issued out of court disposals. We are incredibly grateful for the intelligence, and we will continue to assess, grade, and action the information we receive to plan future deployments.”
