Serious injury collision, Instow

We are investigating a serious road traffic collision near Instow on Friday and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a grey VW Golf GTI on the B3233 near Instow, Bideford, at around 10.50pm on Friday 6 June.

The car is believed to have left the road, collided with a tree on the verge before returning to the carriageway. It is not thought that any other vehicle was involved.

Two men in their 20s were injured in the collision, with one of them sustaining potentially life-changing injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment and their next of kin have been made aware and are being supported.

Police officers, paramedics and the fire and rescue service attended.

We would like to thank those members of the public who stopped to assist at the scene.

The road was reopened just before 2am on Saturday 7 June.
