A police operation has uncovered over 200 cannabis plants growing in a local Devonport garage as part of a nationwide crackdown on drugs.

The activity saw the haul of plants and a range of drug cultivation equipment seized from the premises located on Healy Place on Thursday 26 March.

Six men aged between 28 and 50 were arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis following the search.

Two men have bailed whilst enquiries are ongoing and the other four men have been deported from the UK by Home Office’s Immigration Enforcement.

PS Megan Davis Butler, who supported the operation, said: "Removing this substantial amount of cannabis plants has been a win - the more disruption we can cause in the production of drugs, the better.

“I would urge anyone who has any information or suspicions relating to drug crime in the city to please report it.

“The more you tell us, the more action we can take to make our streets safer.”

The operation was led by the Devonport Neighbourhood Police Team and supported by Immigration Officers.

Officers continue to target the drug dealers and drug supply on the streets of Devon and Cornwall.
