Teenage motorcyclist seriously hurt in Barnstaple collision

We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Barnstaple which left a teenage motorcyclist critically injured.

Police and ambulance were called around 5.15pm yesterday, Wednesday 28 January, following a two vehicle collision on the A39 Shirwell Road at the junction with the B3230.

The incident involved a Sherco 50cc motorcycle and a Range Rover Evoque.

The motorcycle rider, a 16-year-old boy from Barnstaple, was seriously injured and taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Both occupants of the Range Rover were uninjured.

Roads policing officers attended the scene and the road was closed until 8pm while an investigation took place. 

They are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
