Police have reiterated their advice to property owners in North Devon to ensure their properties are secure as they investigate a series of burglaries.

Following reports of break-ins in Woolacombe and Mortehoe, which took place overnight between Sunday 24 March and Monday 25 March, a further seven reports have been received from the Braunton area, which are believed to be linked.

The latest incidents took place between Friday 29 March and Sunday 31 March. These included reports of burglaries and attempted burglaries at dwellings and commercial premises on South Street, Caen Street and Dyers Close.

Among items stolen were garden tools, a roof rack and cash.

Sergeant Malc Kirk said: “Unfortunately, we have seen a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries over the last two weeks in Woolacombe, Mortehoe and now Braunton, and I would urge the public to be extra vigilant in securing their premises.

“If you have seen any suspicious behaviour or have been a victim of an offence and not yet reported it, please get in touch with us.

“We are also asking that anyone who may have any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage which may assist our enquiries, please report it to us to so we can investigate it fully.

“In the meantime, we would ask residents to ensure that their property is secure by keeping doors locked at night and when leaving their premises.”
