Emergency services come together at Truro Cathedral carol service
Truro Cathedral hosted its annual blue light carol service earlier this month - an event dedicated to celebrating the hard work of those working in the emergency services across the region, including Police, Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Service and First Responders.
Assistant Chief Constables (ACCs) Jim Pearce and Nikki Leaper were proud to represent Devon & Cornwall Police at the festive celebrations, alongside Superintendent Ian Thompson and Chief Inspector Adam Stonehill.
The music-filled evening was led by Canon Pastor Alan Bashforth and was attended by blue light workers from all over Cornwall. The event featured a host of readings, Christmas carols and performances by Kernow Pipes and Drums and the Rock Choir.
ACC Leaper and Supt. Ian Thompson were honoured to be asked to deliver readings and to lead the Police Officer’s Christmas Prayer.
Supt. Thompson said: “I am honoured to have been invited to attend the blue light carol service again this year, and to have had the opportunity to lead one of the readings.
“This annual event is a wonderful occasion; recognising the valuable work of all emergency service workers who work tirelessly to keep Cornwall safe.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Truro Cathedral for hosting this special service and to express my gratitude to local communities for the support they have continued to show us this year.”
