Suspicious incident, Exeter

Police investigating a report of a suspicious incident in Exeter on Thursday 27 February are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police were called to Exhibition Fields between Exhibition Way and Beacon Heath, in Exeter, at around 2.45pm on Thursday following reports of suspicious activity by a man.

It was reported that a man approached a mother who was pushing her children in a pram and assaulted her before leaving the scene.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the park between 1pm and 3pm, on Thursday 27 February.

Detective Inspector Dave Ireland said: “Understandably, incidents of this nature can be distressing and cause concern within the community. Fortunately, they are rare.

“Members of the public will see an increased police presence as enquiries are continuing.

“We would like to hear from anyone with information or witnesses who may have seen any suspicious activity around the time of the incident. We are particularly interested in any CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage which may have captured it.”

A man in his 30s from the Exeter area was arrested in connection to the incident. He has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
