Plymouth man jailed for raping two women
A 33-year-old man from Plymouth, who raped two women, has been sentenced to serve 22 years.
Craig McCormick, of Colesdown Hill, Plymouth, was sentenced on Monday 25 September, at Plymouth Crown Court, to 22 years, with 18 to be spent in custody and the remainder on licence.
McCormick had been charged with two counts of rape against one victim and, following a three-day trial held in June, he was found guilty on one charge and not guilty on the second.
He had previously pleaded guilty to four charges of rape against another victim.
The offences took place between 2012 and 2021.
Following the sentencing, DC Sarah Hall, who led the investigation, said: “We welcome this sentence.
“I also wish to pay personal tribute to the victims. Their bravery in reporting these matters and supporting a prosecution has brought this man to justice.
“I hope they and their families can now move forward with their lives in the knowledge that they have seen some justice for what he did to them.
“Devon & Cornwall Police remains committed to supporting survivors of abuse and sexual offences and we will actively investigate and, where evidence supports, charge people who commit these crimes.
“This is an important reminder that such reports will always be taken seriously by the police and justice will be sought. We would always encourage victims to come forward.”
