Man charged with attempted murder of police officer in Newton Abbot

A 39-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer following an incident in Newton Abbot in the early hours of Tuesday 10 February. 

Guy Pottle, aged 39, appeared before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 11 February accused of attacking the female Police Constable at a property in Drake Road. The officer was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

Officers had initially attended the address shortly after midnight on Tuesday 10 February following a report of assault in which a woman sustained minor injuries.

Pottle, from Exeter, has been charged with the attempted murder of the police officer.

He is further charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in regard to the initial incident.

Pottle appeared before magistrates sitting in Plymouth on Wednesday 11 February. He was remanded in custody to appear before Exeter Crown Court on 12 March.
