Fatal collision, Callington
A teenager has died following a collision in Callington yesterday, Wednesday 17 January.
Police were notified at around 5.50pm to reports of vehicle having been involved in a collision with a pedestrian on the A388, close to the junction with Stoke Road.
As a result of the incident, a 17-year-old girl passed away having been conveyed to Derriford Hospital.
The girl’s family are aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Chief Inspector Simon Jenkinson, of Devon and Cornwall Police’s Roads Policing Team, said: “This is a truly tragic incident, and our thoughts go out to the girl’s family and friends who we will continue to support.
“We would like to thank those members of the public who had stopped and assisted at the scene and for those witnesses who we have already spoken to.
“We are now seeking witnesses who we have not yet spoken to, including those who were driving in and around the area at the time and may have dashcam footage.
“A silver Mitsubishi Colt had been involved in the collision and the male driver is continuing to help with our enquiries.”
Response officers, Southwest Ambulance Services along with officers from the Roads Policing Team and the Forensic Collision Investigation team attended the scene.
