Witness sought after road rage assault, Plymouth

Officers are appealing for a specific witness to come forward after a delivery rider was assaulted with a knife during a road rage incident in Plymouth.

The incident happened on Bernice Terrace between 5.40pm and 6.20pm on Wednesday 8 October.

The delivery man was travelling on his E-bike when he was overtaken by a black BMW in what he thought was a dangerous manner.

He caught up with the car near Lipson Academy due to heavy traffic and stopped alongside the driver’s window.

The BMW driver then reportedly produced a metallic blue handled flip knife and slashed the victim’s coat causing damage. He then shouted abuse before driving off.

A man in his 20s from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and without insurance. He has been released on bail until January pending further enquiries.

Officers investigating the incident are keen to trace a key witness who was driving behind the victim and stopped at the scene. It is believed he witnessed the events and could provide vital information.

They would also like to hear from any other witnesses who may have seen the altercation or captured it on CCTV, doorbell or dashcam.
