Sidmouth police team make new furry friends at local donkey sanctuary

Officers from the Sidmouth Neighbourhood Police Team held an engagement event on Sunday (23 June) to meet visitors at the local donkey sanctuary.

The unusual location was chosen as part of the team’s regular visits to busy venues to give the public an opportunity to meet them face to face.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Sarah Reece and her colleague PC Tom Driver chatted to families and visitors of all ages and even managed to meet some of the lovely donkeys.

PCSO Reece said: “We did lots of talking and engagement with children and parents, guardians and grandparents. We managed to get some shy children to come and say hello and try on police hats and have stickers from us. It’s a great location to meet lots of people and we hope to return in the future.”

PCSO Reece will also be at Sidmouth Library in Blackmore Drive on Wednesday 3 July and Wednesday 31 July from 10am-12pm as part of a regular event to meet local residents and answer any queries they may have. It’s also an opportunity for people to pick up some crime prevention advice.

Officers will also be out and about on patrol during the busy Sidmouth Regatta and folk festival; both events take place in August. If you see them why not come up and have a chat.
