Officers are seeking information and witnesses following a high-value jewellery theft at a Penzance store.

Two men entered Clare Mason Studio on Chapel Street on the afternoon of Tuesday 5 August and took a glass display containing 16 handmade gold rings with precious stones.

They made off towards the Wharfside area via Chapel Street and Abbey Slip.

Six of the stolen rings were dropped in nearby streets and these were recovered thanks to the public who assisted officers.

As part of their investigation officers have released images of two men they would like to identify as they may be able to assist with their enquiries.

We appreciate the images are of poor quality but we hope that someone may still recognise them and contact us.

PC Gabe Abbott said: “This was a brazen theft in broad daylight and fortunately no-one was injured. We would like to hear from anyone who recognises the men pictured as they may be able to assist with our investigation.

“We know the town was busy at the time and would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcams to also get in touch.

“These rings are distinctive so we would further ask traders and second hand dealers, as well as the public, to call us if they are offered them for sale.”

Please submit information online or by telephone on 101, quoting crime reference 50250202739.

Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555111.
