Assault, Barnstaple

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Barnstaple.

The incident took place outside Barnstaple Railway Station at around 6.30pm on Friday 29 November.

It was reported that the victim was in a car with his children outside the station when a man walked in front of him.

The man then threw the contents of his drink onto the car causing the victim to get out. A verbal disagreement ensued which resulted in the victim being punched by the man who had walked in front of the car.

A second man then threw a glass bottle into the passenger side of the car, hitting the driver’s son.

Investigating officers are keen to speak to anybody who may have witnessed the incident or with relevant dash-cam footage. The station was busy at the time due to the arrival of the 17:19 train from Exeter.
