Officers investigating a sexual assault in North Devon have released an e-fit of a man they wish to identify in connection with the incident.

The offence took place in Ilfracombe, on Station Road near the junction of Richmond Road, at around 11:20pm on Saturday 3 February 2024.

A 17-year-old girl was followed by a white male, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing a black or dark green wind breaker jacket with a dark coloured beanie. He is described as having a local accent.

The unknown man engaged the victim in conversation before sexually assaulting her.

Local officers would like to reassure the public that, as a result of the offence, patrols have been concentrated in this area. There is not believed to be a wider risk to the public.

Various enquiries have been carried out since the incident and officers are now releasing the e-fit as a part of their investigation.
