Sadly, the woman in her 70s was located deceased inside the house. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Local officers were alerted by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary who had attended a property in Waterside in Hythe, Hampshire, and located a man in his 40s deceased. His death is not believed suspicious.
An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of both deaths and scene guards remain in place at the addresses while officers conduct enquiries.
The man and the woman are believed known to each other. Next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Pebworth said: “This is a very sad incident and we are supporting the next-of-kin of those who have died. We continue to work with our colleagues from Hampshire as we investigate this matter.
“Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish exactly what has happened and cordons are in place to allow for a thorough investigation of both addresses.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area and we encourage anyone to speak with officers if they have any concerns.”
