Free bike marking in Exeter
Devon & Cornwall Police are offering free bike marking to the cycling community in Exeter at a series of events over the coming week.
Officers will mark bikes with a unique code and add them to the national Bike Register database. This will deter thieves and make it easier for officers to reunite stolen bikes with owners.
Police Community Support Officers will also be on hand to offer advice on how to keep bikes secure at home or when out and about.
The bike marking events will be held on:
- Newcourt Community Centre, Exeter, 10:00am – 12:00pm on Saturday 26 July
- Ennerdale Way, Exwick, 10:00am – 11:00am on Tuesday 29 July
PCSO Gavin Menditta is one of the officers holding the events in the area. He said: “Bikes can be costly to buy, and many people are reliant on them as a mode of transport to and from work or education.
“If you own a bike or an e-bike, come along to one of our upcoming events and we’ll register them for you free of charge; making them less desirable to potential thieves.”
